TITLE : Accountant
SECTION: Administration
LEVEL: 7/1
ANNUAL SALARY : COP 53,223,228 + social benefits
DURATION: Term employment offer for one year.
ELIGIBILITY : All persons meeting the essential requirements. The Locally-engaged employees of the Embassy and the spouses of the Canadian diplomats posted to Bogota will have preferential treatment, in case of equal competence. Persons referred by employees and/or available on Mission’s recruitment files may be invited.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES :
Under the general supervision of the Mission Management Officer:
* provides accounting, budgetary, and financial services to the mission.
* Major duties include pre-auditing and preparing payment for all goods and services provided to the mission;
* provides budgetary services for mission decentralized budgets, CIDA, RCMP and Immigration programs;
* manages the mission’s computerized on-line financial systems (IMS);
* supervises the work of the Assistant accountant.
* establishes and maintains working relations with appropriate departmental, local banking and other contacts;
* provides accounting assistance, pre-auditing and services to the office in Cartagena;
* actively participates in the financial management function by providing input to budgetary allocations and financial forecasts;
* performs other related duties as required.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Accounting or related science Degree from a university OR an acceptable combination of education, training and work experience related to the duties and specific areas of competence required by the position.
Language Requirements: Fluent spoken and written English and Spanish with knowledge of French a definite advantage
Knowledge and Experience: The incumbent must have very good knowledge of Accounting and Auditing procedures and Financial management as well as a strong knowledge of Computer Programs like Word Processors, Spreadsheets, Outlook, Internet and related. Candidates must have knowledge and experience working with SAP. Good experience in bookkeeping is desired.
