Principal Civil Engineer

- To join ongoing onshore and offshore civil/structural projects.

- Leading and administering all structural design/draughting and CAD work on the project to which assigned.

- To ensure effective and consistant production of draughting deliverables in accordance with engineering specifications and design.

Key Aims and Objectives:

- Administering the Structural Drawing offices and providing CAD, MTO and detailing expertise.

- Ensuring adequate structural design/draughting services are available to satisfy the needs of the company workload.

Responsibilities and Duties:

- Take responsibility for all design and draughting staff and work in the Structural Section, ensuring a high level of competence at all times.

- Ensure that the draughting procedures and guides are sound and up-to-date.

- Report to the discipline manager on the performance of CAD and development plan.

- Ensure the consistent draughting/CAD approach is maintained on all projects.

- Supervise the preparation of departmental typical detail drawings and ensure these are up-to-date with current fabrication practice.

- Ensure company drawing office procedures are adhered to on all projects.

- Provide structural draughting input to proposals.

- Assist the Discipline Manager in the monitoring and control of the sections overall programme and manpower requirements for all projects.

- Carry out Performance Development reviews and create Succession Plans of section staff obtaining Discipline Engineering Managers approval.

- Ensure that all CAD/drawing office staff are aware of amendments to Procedures and Guides.

- Supervise training of all structural trainees and moniter their performance.

- Identify any specific training requirements.

- Attend departmental meetings.

- Advise the Discipline Manager of all future staffing requirements.

- Act as the focal point for Structural CAD technology and keep abreast of developments that will benefit the company.

- Assist the Discipline Manager in the promotion of a wider CAD awareness amongst engineers.

- To read, understand and implement the Upstream Oil and Gas Safety, Health and Environmental Policy and the arrangements described in the Integrated Management System documents.

- To read, understand, implement and promote "Safety by Action" and to develop an annual Personal Performance Contract.

- To support Distributed Engineering.

- To actively participate in Communities of Practice and promote incerased involvement from within the section.

Participates in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and

software in conjunction with end-users and department managers.

Acquisition & Development

Manage all operating systems and end-user software.

Manage communications ([e-mail, IM,….]) and connection solutions, including workstations. Connectivity, local

area networks, company Web site, intranet, and Internet applications.

Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data on host computers, multiple databases and during data

transfer in accordance to business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory


Manage input /out put fleet, including printers and scanners.

Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights and storage allocations in accordance with best-practices

regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance. Perform network and security audits. Perform and test

routine system backups and restores.

Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on servers, input/out

put fleet, and workstations. Escalate incidents as necessary.

Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component.
